Wir sind völlig überrascht, als wir am Morgen in Muscat einlaufen. So eine schöne Stadt mit diesem Gebirge im Hintergrund haben wir nicht erwartet.
Bereits von unserem Schiff haben wir einen wunderbaren Blick auf die blaue Moschee….
….die Festung der Portugiesen…
…und die alte Burg.
Für uns wirkt die Architektur sehr eigenwillig, aber irgendwie zur Landschaft passend.
Die Brücke wird nur einige Male im Jahr, nämlich bei den seltenen Regenfällen benötigt.
Es gibt extrem viele Moscheen in der Stadt….
…und die Omani sind sehr freundlich, traditionsbewusst und gläubig.
Das ist die riesige Moschee, welche Sultan Quabos erbauen ließ.
Wir dürfen sie nur von Aussen besichtigen, aber manchmal gelingt doch ein Blick ins Innere.
Keine Moschee gleicht der anderen!
Wieder zurück im Hafenviertel besuchen wir den Souk…
….wo es außer Lebensmittel wirklich alles zum Kaufen gibt.
Im Hafen vor uns liegt eine der beiden Yachten von Sultan Quabos (diese wurde in Hamburg gebaut, die andere in Italien).
Wir können aber auch sehen, wie die einfache Bevölkerung….
…am Land lebt.
Der riesige Palast des Sultan wird zwar schwer vom Militär bewacht, aber so geschickt, dass man keine Soldaten sieht.
Dies ist der Haupttrakt des Palastes.
Bei der Rückfahrt bewundern wir die Promenade entlang der Küstenstrasse.
Im Stress sind diese Omani nicht!
Muscat liegt wirklich wunderbar eingebettet zwischen den Bergen….
…und das portugiesische Fort erinnert an alte Zeiten.
Bei der Ausfahrt aus dem Hafen sehen wir auch das überdimensionale Weihrauchgefäss wieder…
…werfen einen letzten Blick auf den Palast….
…bevor die Küste im Abendrot verschwindet.
